Rest & Reflection
I read something this week that made me pause in reflection. It said, "Your exhaustion isn't a trophy. Your burnout isn't an achievement. Success that costs your well-being isn't success at all--it's survival mode decorated as ambition."
I wasn't sure what topic I wanted to cover in my post this week. The word "rest" kept coming to my attention. From quotes like this I would see on Instagram to the continued mention of rest in the Bible Recap that I am doing in order to hopefully read the Bible in one year. My husband has been out of town for work the entire week, and the kids had yet another day off from school on Wednesday due to ice conditions. To say I am tired would be an understatement.
I think I am probably not the only one feeling a little tired...winter has a way of escalating that feeling. No matter if you are trying to prep for a move across states with your family while continuing to pursue your passions like I am, or if this is perhaps a season of grief for you, I just wanted to remind everyone that it is okay to rest. Our body needs it. Our mind needs it. It's okay to slow down every once in a while, maybe to catch our breath or to just be still.
I know this isn't a very long post filled with tangible steps towards something or statistics to inform you, but let it be a gentle reminder that occasionally, rest is the answer.
I hope you have an amazing weekend. Don't forget to save the date for the Boozy Book Fair coming up on Saturday, February 22nd, from 4-9 PM at the Sheraton Hotel downtown KC, as well as the FIRST in-person reading of The Adventures of Ella Bella at the Story Collective in St. Joseph, Missouri, on Saturday, March 1st, at 11 AM. I hope to see you there.
Thank you for reading this every week, and as always, happy reading.
