My sweet boy. My inspiration for Tuck. The love bug that made me a momma is headed to school. Okay, truth—he’s headed to preschool. It’s just two days a week, but it is a testament to time passing. With each moment each of my little humans are getting bigger and older! Motherhood is such a conundrum. Every part of it being a game of tug-a-war playing with our heart strings. We want the moments to stand still, but at the same time we want them to continue growing. Whether it’s because you are in a rough patch and ready for the next phase, potty training for example or just because it is fun to have their personalities start to shine.  One moment we are snuggling these new miracles and the next we are purchasing school supplies and preparing for the school year to start.

I adore being able to have conversations with him and watch him when he is thinking hard about something. Those little wheels sure do start turning. Kids’ imaginations are impressive and I’m constantly learning new things. Don’t get me wrong, parenting can be hard and oh so tiring! But, when I am cuddling on his bean bag at bedtime and reading a book, he has heard 100 times and still enjoys, I can’t wait to see what the next day will bring and what new things he will teach me.

If you are a parent getting ready to send you baby off to school or maybe an educator preparing for all these new faces, cheers to you. Good luck! Remember to cherish every moment that you can and for those moments you can’t, remember “this too shall pass” because either way, the moments will. As I prepare for school drop off, I will simultaneously be missing my buddy that tells me “dood morninnggg,” the little man that wants to do puzzles, drink hot chocolate no matter what the temperature is outside and gives the best hugs; while at the same time feeling completely elated to watch him grow. I hope he makes new friends and learns all the things that he can’t learn by staying home with me. (Even though secretly I wish I could keep him here with me forever). So, give them big hugs, bend the rules sometimes and keep reading their favorite stories. And if that new favorite story happens to be T-Rex and Tuck Explore Going to School, I won’t complain!
